8th Advances Against Aspergillosis meeting held in Lisbon
February 07 2018
If you were at the 8th Advances Against Aspergillosis meeting in Lisbon last week, you may have noticed our stall with leaflets about the LIFE Worldwide, Aspergillus&Aspergillosis, Gaffi and Microfungi. While most visitors were already very familiar with the LIFE and A&A websites, many were pleasantly surprised to learn about the Drug Interactions Pro app, which is available free for Android or Apple devices.
Organised by Prof David Denning (Manchester, UK), Prof David Stevens (Stanford, USA) and Prof Bill Steinbach (Duke University, USA), the conference covered every aspect of aspergillosis epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and fundamental research. Highlights included a Q&A with Sumathi Nambiar from the FDA and daily ‘Meet the Professor’ sessions.
Our team ran a special edition of the NAC Patient Meeting from within the conference, which highlighted the work we do supporting and informing our patients. Visit the iNACPaC website to watch a recording of this meeting.
The conference also coincided with World Aspergillosis Day, which this year had the theme of 'Caring for Carers'. Visit the World Aspergillosis Day website for more information and to read poems and personal stories written by our aspergillosis patients and carers. Or watch a video featuring one of our patients about living with aspergillosis.
If you missed the conference don’t worry – video presentations and abstracts will be appearing on the Aspergillus&Aspergillosis website over the coming week, and the key papers will be presented in an upcoming supplement of Clinical Infectious Diseases.
