Radiology and imaging expertise
For some fungal infections, imaging with Xrays or scans is a critical component of the diagnosis. This is particularly true of lung, sinus and brain infections. Sometimes the imaging findings are characteristic, but usually affected patients have many other problems and so considerable experience is required to report findings well.
LIFE’s approach to improving imaging expertise
>> Provide short courses for radiologists on recognising and monitoring fungal disease, especially of the lung.
>> Facilitate improved access to imaging in localities in which this is unavailable, especially CT scanning of the lungs.
