By far the commonest manifestation of fungal infection in the mouth is superficial candidiasis, including pseudomembranous oral candidiasis, angular cheilitis, denture stomatitis and erythematous oral candidiasis.
Occasionally systemic infections occur in the mouth including:
>> Histoplasmosis - disseminated
>> Histoplasmosis - acute pulmonary
>> Histoplasmosis - chronic cavitary pulmonary
>> Invasive fungal rhinosinusitis (invading through the hard palate)
>> Invasive fungal periodontitis
